Rockbit UK is a family owned company that is recognised internationally as one of the UK’s leading drilling equipment suppliers and manufacturers.

Forty years experience within the drilling and mining industries coupled with innovative solutions to technical and operational challenges enables Rockbit UK to offer customers a complete manufacturing, maintenance and consultancy package.

Based on the banks of the river Tyne overlooking the once mighty Swan Hunters shipyard our four factory units stand on what was the northern frontier of the Roman Empire.

Wallsend has a centuries old tradition of coal mining, ship-building and heavy engineering. These skills are built into the company and we are extremely proud to take this tradition forward with the recent investment in our workshops including computer numerical controlled machinery and the expansion of our steel fabrication facilities.

We have strong European links including being the sole UK agent for Massenza Rigs and Pagani Geotechnical. These Italian companies manufacture a range of rotary drilling and soil sampling rigs which are sold and serviced by Rockbit UK.

This two way business relationship sees Rockbit UK manufacturing drilling equipment packages to accompany their rig sales and we have co-designed the first truly multipurpose slope climbing drilling rig capable of working on slopes angled up to 45 degrees and in areas of difficult access, previously inaccessible by standard drilling machines.

This capability makes it uniquely placed to satisfy the requirements of HS2, Highway Agency and Network Rail slope investigation and stabilisation projects. It is the first choice for installing a new patented slope stabilisation technology created out of research from Newcastle University.

Renewable energy and oil & gas industries now dominate the banks of the Tyne and Rockbit UK is at the very heart of this regeneration.

We recently increased our factory area to 35,000 square feet and are looking to increase our very modest but highly skilled workforce of 15 personnel.

A policy of sustainable growth coupled with technical and practical innovation has carried us through the inevitable fluctuations in the economy.

Our engineering department has gained a reputation for exceptional service and customers from the site investigation, geothermal, water-well, tunneling, ground stabilization and civil engineering sectors now have Rockbit UK as their first choice for rig supply, maintenance and repair.
